Constructed of silver plated magnetic iron, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised Heer style German national eagle clutching an Iron Cross defaced by a mobile swastika, situated above an inscription of CHOLM 1942, affixed with all three reverse attachment prongs to a magnetic metal backplate with a field grey wool liner and partially intact paper backer, the former indicating Heer issue, unmarked, the shield measuring 40.
